Welcome to 2010 – Mohabat: A New Year Resolution for Nejat Church

January 4, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Today’s sermon was delivered by Pastor Massoud Sadeghi after a photo journal of Nejat Church was presented by Sheeva.  The photo journal showed the church activities throughout 2009. It showed the wonderful works of the Holy Spirit, through the baptism of new converts from Islam to Christianity, the church camp, the Sizdeh Bedar event, the Christmas party where some 500 Iranians took part; the New year party and short films of the Iranian youth who expressed their love for the Lord.

Pastor Massoud took the podium and welcomed members and guests to Nejat Church.  This is a summary of his sermon translated from Farsi to English:

Welcome to Nejat Church and welcome to 2010.  Every year, this is the time when people make new year resolutions.  They work hard to keep their resolutions through out the year.  I hope you will want to show God’s face to people in 2010.  You know, God wants people to see Him.  Throughout history, people have sought religions and philosophy to find God, but they have only brought hunger, war and disasters to mankind.  God wants to show his true self to us.   He has done that through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Read Romans 8:14 – This year our resolution should be to show God’s face and His love for people. I want to see Jesus in you this year.  This is the year of victory for those who believe in Christ, who have found a new creation. This new creation is a fundamental change, as all the bad habits and bad actions are replaced with God’s presence, God’s Light and Love, in you.

Read Galatians 4:19 and John 3:16 – You must show God’s love to others this year.  This is the year of happiness, joy, healing and salvation for people who are seeking God and His Love.  You only need to show the true face of God to other people, so they can see the true love.  People are thirsty for love.  The world does not need any more religions and laws.  What the world needs is love. So, God sent His perfect love, His only Son to us. He sent peace, joy and love through His Son, Jesus Christ.

So in this new year, we must become the agents of God’s love, His peace and Joy.  A clear sign of the new creation is love, what we call Mohabat in Persian.  Love, Mohabat is only seen in action.  What the Lord did for us was a perfect example of His Love for us, the sinner of this world.  The kind of love that world is seeking is the love that does not expect anything in return.  The love that Jesus offered is the perfect love for anyone, without bias or prejudice, for people of any race, of any nation to receive it.   Likewise, we must show love to everyone, not just to our friends and family, but to all, even to our enemies, to those who have done us wrong.   Love should not be out of petty or out of feeling sorry for someone; it should be based on Mohabat – love.

Let me use the analogy of a perfume bottle.  When you spray the perfume, you are only giving a small sample. But, when you break the entire bottle, then you truly pour out the perfume.  Love works the same way.  We must break the bottle of our hearts to pour all of our love for others.  The key step in giving love is forgiveness.  God forgave our sins by giving His only begotten Son … Likewise, when Jesus went on the cross, He forgave them, saying: “God forgive them for they do not know what they are doing.”

Similarly, when Steephan (Stephen) who was stoned to death, said: God forgive them.  Today, people are tired of religous tricks and religious talk.  They hunger for true love.  When Poulos and Silas (Paul & Silas) were captured and beaten, deep in the darkness of night in jail, they raised their voice in worship and praise of God (they did not curse their captors because they had forgiven their captors).  Today, I say to you to do the same. Forgive those who have done you wrong.  Break the jar of your heart and pour all the love to other people.  People must see the true face of God in us, this is possible when we act in God’s love towards others. Let’s show the true face of God in our love for others.  Let this be our new year resolution for 2010. Amen

In Him – Sermon summary – Sunday, Sept 27, 2009

September 28, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Today’s sermon was delivered by pastor Massoud Sadeghi.   He looked at answering three questions:

1) Who are we?

2) What do we possess?

3) What are we capable of doing?

Pastor Massoud Sadeghi then continued to discuss the answers.  Here is a summary of his sermon:

Interestingly enough, these three questions are common amongst all people of the world.  People’s lives center around the answer to these three questions.

Let’s answer these three questions for the believers in Christ.  Let’s look at IICor 5:17.  The Bible says that anyone born again in Christ has unlimited life, unlimited power and unlimited blessings and wealth in Jesus Christ.  In Jesus we are capable of doing anything.  If one’s life is in Jesus, that person has many privileges.  We are God’s children and as His children we have previliges that others don’t.

In Col. 1:13, we read that you are free of all chains and bondage in this world.  You are free to sow and reap in freedom and you will receive His blessings abundantly.   What ever you touch, what ever you put your mind to, through Jesus Christ, you will sow many rewards and benefits, so vast that you can not collect it all.  When a believer realizes that we’re free from Satan’s harm and realize that Jesus paid for our sins, we know that we are free of sins and free from Satan’s grip.  Read Gal. 5:1.  Yes, you are free and should not let others put the yoke of sin and bondage on you.  We should proclaim: I have everything in Jesus; I can do anything in Him.  Freedom is the number 1 thing that people around the world need.

Since Jesus is the captain that pilots your life, there is nothing to be afraid of or to worry about!  God’s grace is enough for us to meet any challenge or difficulty.  God’s Grace is all that we need to receive His blessings, peace and prosperity.  God created us by giving us this eternal life.  He breathed His spirit in us when he created humans.   God intended that we have eternal life.   (Read Col. 1:15, Genesis 2:7).

God has created everyone of us by His own hand. God crafted and shaped each and everyone of us by His own hands.  We are His creations formed in His image.  Knowing this fact, our views of each other must change as we should view one another as the handicraft of God.  Read John 15:5 – Did you know that you are under the protection of Jesus’ blood?  Did you know that you will bring vast harvest.  (Look at Hebrews 7:25 then Romans 8:33 and Phil 3:19).  Jesus is there and prepared to always make intercession for us.  Jesus always lives to see that our rights and salvation are protected.  God even fights for us, for His children.  He fights for our behalf.  In Him, we can reach the wonderful promises that He has given us.  He will satisfy all of your needs and gives you blessings beyond our imagination and beyond any limits.  Amen.

Sept 13, 2009 – Sermon Summary

September 13, 2009 · Leave a Comment

It was a great sunny day today, unusual for Sept. in Seattle.  The church gathering brought Iranian Christians from almost every city of Iran together.  After singing songs of worship, the church filled with the Holy Spirit listened to today’s sermon.  Pastor Massoud Sadeghi gave his sermon as follows. This is a summary of the sermon translated from Persion to English:

Good morning and welcome to Nejat Church.  Is everyone feeling and receiving love in this church? Is there anyone who does not feel he/she is not receiving the love of Jesus from the other members?  I want to see that you are loved in our church in the same way that Jesus loved us.

For some time, I wanted the Nejat Church to be like the 1st century church, filled with love.  That our church would be able to do the same miracles that happened then.  But, the Lord has given me new insight. That today’s church is able to do things that the 1st century church was unaware and unable to do.  Today’s good news is that you have powers in today’s church that were not available to the 1st century church.

Peter and other disciples had heard and had seen first hand about healings and miracles of Jesus and they too performed such miracles.  (1John 1:1-3). Since then the heavens have opened up and new revelations have been given to us.  (IICor. 12:7).  Our new creation in Christ provides us powers that can liberate our people in Iran.  The church needs to learn that it can stand before God today and ask in Jesus’ name whatever it needs.  The apostles believed based on what they had seen. You believe based on your faith and thus you have much more power entrusted to you by God.

Satan is afraid of the revelations that are given to today’s churches. We should wake up and discover these revelations and known that they are so powerful that they can shake up the world.

When Jesus rose from the dead, he went up to heaven and now sits at the right hand of God.  But today we know he is our savior and the one who advocates on our behalf.  The church is the body of Christ and all the powers of Christ are in His church.  (Col 1:18).

D.L. Moody once said: “If i could lived again, I would spend more time to discover the revelations in God’s Word.”  Today you have the spirit of God, namely you have Jesus in you.  Wherever you are and you go, God is there; He is with you and dwells in  you.  The church embodies Christ.  Once you realize that God is in y ou, and you have the new creation in Christ, you have the same power as God.

God lives in Christians and in church.   Did Jesus shed his blood for nothing?  He gave His life so we may have eternal life and fellowship with the great God.  We’re now the temple of God.  God is love, kind and humble.  He is here, lives in us and amongst us.  Set aside your pride and see His presence.  God is in Christians, those who are like Christ.

So build each other up everytime you see one another.  God wants to use us for His plans.  The powers of heaven are in our reach.  God has opened my eyes to the fast that Nejat Church is more than a 1st century church. (Hebrews 11:1, 6)

The kind of faith that pleases God is the kind of faith that you have in Nejat Church.  We’re now aware and have the kind of faith that whatever we ask in Jesus’ name we shall receive as we have already received so many things from Him. (Col 1:11).  Paul prayed that God gives His power (all of His power) to you.  (Eph 6:11-18)

I speak about all churches today.  You are equipped with God.  Use your tongue to utter the word of God to defend against Satan.  Use your speech with the word of God to bring His blessings & healings to your  loved ones, to your friends and family and to your neighbor.  You can cast out poverty, sickness, despair, and all ailments and shortcomings of this world by reciting the mighty word of God in Jesus name.  Now just act on His word.  Amen.

Freedom for Iran – Sermon Summary, Sun-July 5, 2009

Freedom For Iran

This sermon was delivered by Pastor Massoud Sadeghi on Sunday, July 5th, 2009.  A video of this sermon is available on YouTube in three parts.  Below are direct links to the videos in Farsi (Persian).  If you are interested just click on each link below:

Part 2:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9Ul6qjb5EQ

Part 3:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAji23nlMI8

Here is a summary of the sermon.

God has created mankind to be free

I want to talk about freedom today.  This country was founded on freedom and on the Word of God.  A heavy price has been paid by men and women everywhere for sake of freedom.  This is the time of celebration because God has delivered freedom to us through his son, Jesus Christ.  People from all over the world come to this country to find freedom.  Many sacrifice their homes, wealth and comfort of their life and journey to this country to find freedom.

Freedom is a natural aspect of humanity.  I can tell you that there is freedom in Jesus’ glorious name.  In His name, there is life in abundance, healing, blessings and freedom.  The most precious thing in life is freedom.  God created us as free individuals with free will to choose.  He has given His Son so we can attain this freedom.  We thank God for sending His Son, Jesus Christ for our salvation and freedom.

(Read Romans 8:2) God has freed us from sin and slavery to satan.  Patrick Henry once said ” Give me freedom or give me death”.  In Spanish, there is a saying “It’s better to die standing free than to live bending in slavery”.   Today, Jesus is working to free people of Iran.  Many have left the comfort of their homes, separated from their friends and relatives, and made personal sacrifices to live in freedom.  How can we forget or ignore the situation in Iran today?

The uprising of youth in Iran is reminicient of the demonstrations about 30 years ago. Is the history repeating itself?  The majority of the Iranian youth are too young to know the revolution of 30 years ago.  But their cries for freedom echo the same movement of 30 years ago.  The youth today are brave as they are standing for the same thing that their parents demanded 30 years ago; freedom.  I applaud the bravery of these young men and women in Iran.

God gave His Son so we may live in freedom.  God created us as free beings having the right to choose our path.  The voice of freedom can never be silenced.  The right of Iranian people and Iran is to live and to be free.  The men and women who want freedom have risen.  Did you know that the first human rights proclamations were made by King Cyrus of Persia?  This is written in the Holy Book.  Cyrus governed 180 nations with freedom for its people.  Many Iranians throughout its history like Abu-Moslem Khorasani rose against oppression and faught for freedom.  God created us to be free and wants us to be free and live freely.

God is spirit and he is love.  For freedom, only one person is needed to stand up and then others will follow the same.  For us, Jesus was the one who stood up for freedom.  Let’s look at the Book of Nehemiah in the Old Testament.  Nehemiah came to visit the Persian King Artaxerxes when Jerusalem had been pilaged and its gates burned down.  He asked the king for letter of support so he could return and rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. The Persian king granted his wish and from their Nehemiah continued to pray and worked to rebuild the city.  When Nehemiah started to rebuild the city, even the women came to help him in reconstruction; just as women in Iran are working to bring freedom side by side as men.  Just as Nehemiah cried, and prayed to God; just as he repented and confessed to his sins, we too must pray and confess before our God.  We must confess and ask for forgiveness so Jesus would forgive our sins.

Just as Jesus said, there will be a day when they will drive you out of churches and kill the believers; those days have arrived in Iran.  Today, my people, men and women alike are active in their struggle for freedom.  Iran is the land of the free.  We must follow Nehemiah’s example.  We must pray and pray, then go to the King of all kings, namely to Jesus Christ who is the only one who can free the people of Iran and ask for forgiveness and for His intercession.  Jesus is capable of transforming all things; His name is above all names. He has dominion over all things.  Let us pray to Him to bring His true and lasting freedom to Iran. Amen.
