A Sermon by Pastor Massoud Sadeghi, entitled: For You Are the Temple of the Living God

Today pastor Massoud Sadeghi opened his remarks with prayer for Iran and for the Iranian people so they may find Jesus as their savior.  Just as a reminder, the Iranian Christian Conference will be from July 16 to 19th, 2009 in Seattle.  Please sign up to join the conference and reap the blessings and teachings of this event.  For more information visit Nejat Church website at: www.nejatchurch.com

Here is an interpretive summary of today’s sermon translated from Farsi to English:

(Readings from 2Corinthians, ch 6, verse 16; and Book of John, ch 1, verse 14)

We are the temple where God lives in us.  The One who created us, God who created life and everything is in you.  Christ is in you.  You are the temple of the living God.

If we recognize this fact, then we recognize what an amazing power and blessing are in us.  Then, we recognize how much we are capable of doing, and how powerful our prayers can be.

Do not search for anything more; do not thurst any longer because God is in you.   This is as if Jesus is telling you that because H is in you, you shall not thurst.  This is similar to the phrase that Moses heard on the mountain, where God said: “I AM”.  God appears as Jesus, so that those who see Jesus have seen God.  God also appears as the Holy Spirit, the comforter who dwells in us.

There are those who reject Jesus, but they don’t know that they are rejecting their creator, God the Father.  Jesus said to His disciples that it’s better for Him to leave so the Holy Spirit can come and live in them, in the believers.  This means that the believers can be filled with God and the wholeness and fullness of God.

You can apply this fullness of God that’s in you in many things to achieve the power and victory of Jesus in every thing, in such things as in your relationships, your work, at home and to overcome any problems and obstacles.

God communicated with us through His word, namely His beloved son, Jesus Christ.  Today, God communicates to this world through you, namely through His church.

So, my beloved, be filled with the Holy Spirit.  I pray that people become the salt and light of this world, I pray that you find the Holy Spirit in you; that you recognize that God lives in you so that you can live more and more like Jesus. Amen.

Sermon Summary, June 21st – Happy Father’s Day

June 22, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Today’s sermon was delivered by Pastor Massoud Sadeghi after the wonderful and melodic songs of worship, mixed with prayers for healing and peace in Iran.  The church offered special prayers in light of the recent unrest and uprising in Iran for peace and reconciliation with God.  Here is brief summary of the sermon, which I paraphrase:

Happy Father’s Day to all fathers and grand fathers around the world.  In particular I congratulate those fathers who fulfill their fatherly role and duty and raise their children with the word of God and according to his teachings.

The world needs a father.  I pray for peace and for those fathers whose children are in Iran and they have not yet returned.  I pray for God’s peace to be with them.  I pray that Jesus touches the hearts of the youth in Iran and bring peace.  Only Jesus can bring freedom, peace and reconciliation.

No one else can bring freedom and peace to Iran, but Jesus.  Just as the Israelites learned that only by calling on teh name of Jehovah, they could be rescued, I pray that the Iranian people learn that by calling on the precious name of Jesus, they too can be saved and they can find peace.

Father’s Day is reminicient of sweet and wonderul childhood memories.  But for some who did not have a good childhood or if their father was not caring and loving so they don’t have fond memories, I want to let you know that you can set those bad memories aside. I want to talk about a God who want to be a good father to all of us.   Even if parents abandon their children, God says that he does not abandon or forget us.  He creates sweetness and joy in live (read Luke 12:32).

Jesus has come to give life in its fullest, give peace in its best and give love endlessly.   (Read Mat 7:11).  Our heavenly Father wants to give us much more, infinitely more blessings.  The Holy Bible says that you do not have, because you have not asked.  Today I ask and pray to God to give peace, freedom and joy to Iran.  Believers should know that everything good comes from the Lord.  (Read James 1:17).  If there is any pain, any shortcomings, any fear, poverty and illness, it’s not from God. It’s from Satan, because God is good, because God is the light and bread of life. (Read Rom 8:32)

I pray that the people of Iran to be touched by Jesus, regardless whether they wear a black uniform or a green uniform.  Because someday, everyone regardless of the color of their uniform will stand before Jesus and will answer to Him.  That’s when every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess.  Jesus will decide who will go to heaven and who will go to hell.  Whether in Iran’s turbulent situation, person is shooting and another person is getting hurt, I pray that the veil of darkness be lifted from Iran and people on all sides come to know Jesus Christ as their savior.

Those who get close to God are those who hear God louder and better.  The only way to salvation, to freedom and peace is through Jesus Christ.  The closer we get to Jesus, the more we think and act like Him.  My people of Iran, I pray that you come to know the heavenly Father that you come to know the word of God so the blood sheds, wars and in-fightings end.

Now, I have an advice for all fathers.  As fathers, our behavior and conduct will impact the future of our children.  A Christian father must give his children three things: 1) Love, 2)Teach the Word of God, and 3)Be an example in conduct.

In closing, let us pray to our heavenly Father and praise him for his mercy and grace.  We pray that Iran will be saved and rescued from the hands of evil.  In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Sermon Summary, Sunday, June 07, 2009

June 8, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Today’s sermon was delivered by Pastor Massoud Sadeghi.  It followed a wonderful and spirit-filled songs of praise by the congragation.  Paster Massoud delivered the sermon and here is a summary (paraphrased):

Welcome to Nejat Church.  Jesus loves everyone, every person from Iran, Arab, Afghan, Tajik, Kurd or Turkish or any nation of the earth.  All nations of the world are being saved by Jesus Christ.  All nations are finding healing and blessings through Jesus.  Anything that is impossible for us humans, is possible for God, for God almighty is most powerful.  We are in the Kingdom of God becasue Jesus paid the price so we can have eternal life.  We are on this earth but not of this earth; we are in heaven.

I’ve faith that if you apply the keys that God has given to you, you will unlock all your problems.  The same power that rose Jesus from the dead is in you.  Let’s look at our new creation in Jesus.  (read 2Cor. 5:17).

The main advantage of christianity is the new creation.  We’re a new creation, a new being.  Jesus came, gave Himself to change us.  Christianity is not a religion; it’s a transformation of self.  (read John 3:3,5 and Ephes. 2:1-2).

When we’re born again in Jesus, we are born into God’s family so we recieve 3 things when we believe in Jesus:

 1) we have a father in heaven, 2) we recieve the Holy Spirit, and 3) We receive the right to use Jesus’ name.

You can use Jesus’ name to do amazing things.  What ever you ask in His name, you shall receive.  Some of you may ask why you have not received the answer to your prayer yet.  I’m glad you asked.  I’ll offer the answer.

When a person accepts Jesus as his/her savior, three things happen immeidately; and three things they must do on their own accord.  The 3 immediate things are:

1) We find a new life in His Spirit and become a new creation.

2) We receive the Holy Spirit.  Our bodies become the temple and house of God.

3) We receive God’s un-ending love.  His love is planed into our hearts.

(read Rom 5:5).

The 3 things that we must do on our own accord are the following:

1) We must become filled with the Holy Spirit and continue fellowship with the Holy Spirit.  You’ll find power when the Holy Spirit lives in you and you will be His witness.

2) We must remain in Jesus and His word.  (John 15:5).  To stay in Jesus at all times means to remember Him and follow His word not just on Sundays, but always on every day and moment of our lives.  If His word is in you, whatever you wish, it will be given to you.

3) We must be apart and separate from this world.  We should not be bound or follow this world.  (Rom 12:2).  Do not conform to this world.

The common thing about believers in Christ is that they love others.  They erradicate the old habits and the past grudges and worldly ways. They remove pride, gossip, hatred, and all the bad habits of the old creation. They erradicate the weakness of the old creation, so that in the new creation, God’s love and word can work; and it works miracles.  Amen.
